The SERVPRO heat wagon helps decrease the drying time on large water jobs. The heater increases the temperature of outside air by up to 160 degrees Fahrenheit and then deposits it into the space.  With the combination of good temperature control and dehumidification, the heat wagon can drastically decrease the drying time for structures, especially ones which are not completely protected from the outside weather and moisture conditions.

When hardwood floors are affected, it can be hard to see how saturated the wood is, one trick we use is removing the vents in the floor to get a better look. We can usually dry hard wood floors with our Air Movers but if the drying process takes longer, we use our Injectidry Floor Matt Drying System to speed up the process. This drying system creates a vacuum of suction to get water out of dense wood floors.  

This home had about 6 inches of standing water, but the water got absorbed by the porous materials and the affected area extended about a foot up the door and over two foot up the dry wall. Even when you might only have a few inches of standing water, dry wall, doors, and furniture will all absorb the water, and it can make the affected area much more then what was physically touching the water. 

Wet conditions in this commercial building caused warping to happen in the base of the cabinets. Wood warps when the moisture content in the wood changes unevenly. As it starts to dry, one part of the board dries faster than the other, causing the drier area to shrink faster. That causes stress on the wood and can cause it to warp or bend. The faster you find a leak the better chance we can have to dry it and prevent warping wood.

This building was affected by a broken pipe under the sink. This broken pipe caused not only wet and warped cabinets but also the beginning stages of mold growth. Checking your pipes regularly is recommended, especially during the winter months. The tool we are using in the picture is a Protimeter or moisture meter, this meter detects and displays the moisture content of the material it is being used to test.
